Indiran and Duvashen Padayachee’s 2022 Super GT Sydney Motorsport Park 4 Hour campaign looked to have been dealt a severe setback after a crash for Indiran in opening practice this morning.
However, thanks to the generosity of Michael Sheargold and the RAM Motorsport team, the father-and-son Padayachee combination will be back on track, aboard Sheargold’s 991 Porsche GT3 Cup car.
“It was a weird incident in practice this morning, the car snapped sideways under brakes into turn two and fired me into the wall,” Indiran said.
“Physically I was fine and the damage wasn’t too serious, but it would have been difficult for the GWR team to fix overnight and have the car back for tomorrow.
“However, thanks to the generosity of Michael, we’re still going to be competing in the 4 Hour in his car, which is awesome. Duvashen and I have been looking forward to this race for a while, so it would have been a shame to miss out.”
Sheargold, who is teaming up with Garth Walden for the 4 Hour in a Mercedes AMG GT3, was only too happy to lend his Porsche to the Padayachees to get them back on track.
“Indiran and Duvashen are great guys and it would have been disappointing to see them on the sidelines; I had a Porsche parked in the GWR workshop which wasn’t being raced this weekend, so I thought it was a good opportunity to roll it out and have two RAM Motorsport cars on track!” Sheargold said.
“It gives us a shot at two different classes; Indiran and Duvashen can focus on winning the Porsche class while Garth and I go for the outright win.” Sheargold and Walden ended today’s three practice sessions …… while the Padayachees were able to acclimatise themselves to the RAM Motorsport Porsche in Practice 3.
The action tomorrow begins with a two part Qualifying session and then the top 10 shootout before the 4 Hour race kicks off at 5:15pm AEDT, live on the AMRS Facebook and YouTube channels.
