Padayachee Set to Prosper With GWR in 2021

GWR Australia Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup racer Indiran Padayachee is looking to continue his meteoric progression curve, when he takes to the track for the opening round of the 2021 series at Sandown this weekend.

In 2019, Padayachee was one of the biggest improvers in the Carrera Cup field, slashing multiple seconds off his personal-best lap times at each circuit. While the 2020 Carrera Cup was cut short due to COVID-19, Padayachee stayed race fit by turning laps in other categories, including the NSW Production Sports Championship and the Aussie Tin Tops.

More recently, Padayachee competed alongside his son Duvashen in the NSW Production Sports/Super GT 4 Hour under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park, accumulating valuable track time in the lead up his Carrera Cup campaign.

Padayachee said he is aiming to further improve his lap times, while also enjoying battles with the other Pro-Am competitors.

“We made some strong progress in 2019, so we’re aiming for that to continue in 2021,” Padayachee said.

“The seat time I accumulated last year has helped me stay sharp and the 4 Hour at Sydney Motorsport Park was a good event to get me in the zone before the first Carrera Cup round.

“We also completed some testing at Sandown, which was valuable. We were happy with our lap times and it looks like there will be some close battles in the Pro-Am class.

“We’re also happy to welcome back all our existing sponsors for our 2021 campaign.”

In addition to running Padayachee’s Carrera Cup car, the GWR Australia team will also continue to provide technical support at events for Cameron Hill and the CHE Racing outfit.

This weekend features a two-day format, which will see the Carrera Cup drivers and teams enduring a condensed Saturday schedule, including a pair of practice sessions, qualifying and a race. A further two races will be held on Sunday.
