Hobson Acquires New Spec Nissan for 2022

GT World Challenge Australia trophy class driver for GWR Australia, Brett Hobson, has recently acquired the 2015 spec Nissan GTR GT3 in preparation for the 2022 season.

Hobson currently sits second in Trophy class, having claimed an outright race win earlier this year at The Bend and a front row start at Bathurst, proving his ability to challenge the AM and PRO/AM entrants. 25 points adrift of the Trophy class lead, Hobson is returning to Bathurst with the title within reach and is aiming to keep his surroundings familiar to aid his quest.

“We came to a deal with Nissan Australia to acquire the 2015 spec version of our current car, which is from 2014,” said Hobson.

“We’ll give the new car a shakedown at Challenge Bathurst and get a bit of a feel for how it performs, but we’ll finish out the year in our current car and then switch over to the 2015 spec for 2022.”

The new specification is expected to give Hobson a further edge when it comes to speed, with a number of improvements made between the 2014 and 2015 version’s.

“The 2015 spec has an improved aero and brake package which will help performance and should see the car be slightly quicker than our current spec machine.”

“I’m going to stay in Trophy class for 2022, I really enjoy the challenge of driving solo and I’m having a lot fun in this class at the moment.”

Hobson’s next track time is expected to be at Challenge Bathurst (November 11-16) when he tests the new car. The final round of the 2021 GT World Challenge Australia season will take place from November 30 – December 5 alongside the Bathurst 1000.
