GWR Looking to Maintain Consistency in GT and Carrera Cup

Garth Walden Racing have two cars ready to attack The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend with Indiran Padayachee lining up in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup and Brett Hobson in Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia.

It has been seven weeks since Carrera Cup opened the season at Sandown Raceway however Padayachee has remained match fit, completing the Targa Tour and spending time on the simulator in preparation for the upcoming round.

“I’m raring to get back in the car, it’s been a little while since round one and last time at The Bend for me was a good round,” said Padayachee.

“I’ll look to keep improving on my pace this weekend and close the gap to that big group in front of me where there are a number of positions to be gained.

“The GWR cars were all pretty quick back in 2019 at The Bend so we have a reasonably strong baseline setup we can utilise and start off on the right foot.”

For Brett Hobson it will be round three of the GT World Challenge Australia series in which he sits second in the Trophy Class after claiming a class podium in every race started. In the final race at Bathurst, Hobson was unable to start due to a driveshaft issue.

“The car is all back together after the drama we had at Bathurst, so we’re good to go for the upcoming round,” said Hobson.

“I’ve never driven at The Bend before so there’s going to be quite a learning curve, the first session will be all about learning the track and figuring out how the car reacts.”

“I’ve done a bit of driving on the sim, it’s a wild track and I’m really looking forward to the fast flowing corners around the back of the circuit that will suit the GTR. We’ll just have to see where we end up at the end of the weekend, we’ll give it our best shot,” concluded Hobson.

Both the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup and Fanatec GT World Series Australia are on the support card for the OTR SuperSprint from May 7-9.
